'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.

This morning the kids and I skipped our usual trip to the YMCA to watch the inauguration. I'm not one to post about politics but this was historical you know. I noticed that the kids could have cared less about what was really happening but both were attentive to the music. I've always loved this simplicity of this tune and I found what it brought to mind fitting for the events of the day. Both the event of the inauguration and of me being able to sit at home with my children and watch it on tv.
Of course there really is nothing "simple" about the inauguration and how a new president is elected and such. It's even more confusing it seems for the mind of a two year old. I told her we were getting a new president today. She said "I like new presents."
